Unfortunate

Michelle Branch writes her own songs and plays an instrument. Your response to that statement should be something along the lines of "No, duh, genius. She’s a musician." But in the age of Britney and Clay, it unfortunately merits a "Wow, that’s pretty impressive"

  • My pet peeve is how people lavish praise on Avril Lavigne and co. for writing really crappy music.

It's as if they're so impressed by the degree of difficulty that they're ignoring the actual execution of the elements.

  • "This music is designed to deliver a dose of camaraderie and measured rage for the disenfranchised young ladies who don't take solace in Britney's plastic plop. But is this really all that different from Britney's music? In spirit perhaps, but not in execution. Where Britney uses synthesizers, glistening abs and dance beats, Avril uses guitars and snarls… but they're both action figures. Avril's just has more clothes."

  • they're entertainers....some are entertainers and musicians.
Their job is to entertain and in that case Britney does a good job :P

  • my beef is that these "entertainers" are hogging the spotlight from more talented musicians.

no spotlight = no money = time to look for a new profession = no more good music.
