Grappling update
Second class in and I've already gotten hurt.
We were practicing take downs and my partner trapped my right arm and jerked me in a weird way. Now I can't pull my pants up, reach backwards, pull objects or use my right arm to steer (while driving) without pain.
Highlight
Almost got my first submission. Almost got an armbar from the mount. Need to clean up some technique. BJ Penn's side control to mount tips were super helpful.
Lowlight
I was in half guard and got tapped out by a guillotine choke. If I had stayed calm, I would've been fine, but I panicked and tapped.

LUGs guide to kicking ass: Prodigy style
Free Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructional videos (courtesy of BJ Penn) available on his website (bjpenn.com) and on youtube.
Notable tips that look really helpful:
1) Turning hips to side and pushing down on knee to open up the guard
2) While in side control, positioning your arm to block their attempt to pull you back to guard and how to position your knee when switching your base.
"The Prodigy" BJ Penn (short bio)
- earned BJJ black belt in 3 years
- the first non-Brazilian to win a gold medal in the black belt division of the BJJ World Championships
- former UFC welterweight (170lb) champion
- arguably the most talented fighter in the world
