PT fun times

Some background

In the Kraft pulping cycle, the most important process would arguably be the regeneration of the white liquor that is used to cook chips/sawdust. White liq. --> Black liq. --> Green liq. --> White Liq.

The black liquor is burnt in the recovery boiler to form an inorganic smelt that is dissolved in water to form green liquor. However, the smelt has to be properly dispersed otherwise there will be water/smelt explosions.

I was in the lab today and someone told me there was a problem with the dissolving tank. Then for the next minute or so, the building was audibly shaking and we were ready to evacuate. In a worst case scenario, the parking lot might have taken a good beating from the explosion (or was that the chip pile?.....I forget now). Anyhow, aside from the huge cost required to repair and fix this problem and weekend overtime for maintenance, it's business as usual. (On top of the fire that could've potentially destroyed our chip intake system a couple weeks ago).

Grappling update

Highlight: Was in a guy's half guard and worked my way out of a guillotine and kimura attempt. Remaining calm and breathing --> so simple, yet so important for escaping submissions. Eventually passed into mount, but my round ended.

Lowlight: Got caught in a guillotine and the guy pulled guard, but I was able to get to half guard. Unfortunately, my shorts got pulled down from behind and people got a look at my boxer clad ass and with straps from my cup (over my boxers). I couldn't exactly pull my shorts up (guillotine defence: grab their wrist and reach over their shoulder onto their back).

Amateur wrestlering

One of the reasons why I didn't do high school wrestling was because it seemed kind of gay.

But in retrospect, developing great anaerobic endurance, explosiveness, balance & functional strength and learning how to kick ass..... doesn't seem so lame now.

Greek-style wrestling. You know you love it

You win Steve Jobs

I bought an iPod Nano and iPod Nano armband

Note: Some bastard stole my mp3 player belt and Sony mp3 player (something that I would've used for the rest of my life). Then at Futureshop, I thought "Why should I settle for less than the gold standard if I plan on using it for the rest of my life?" Hence the iPod.
