Tony Rock Hawk Band
Remember how skateboarding games were the rage earlier this decade? I would say the series peaked in the third iteration with the addition of larger play environments and much improved graphics. Today, no one cares about skateboarding anymore because more or less, it's the same game from 2002. One could argue that this also applies to sports games. At least with sports, there are roster changes and every year, new wrinkles or adjustments are made to the gameplay.
I see Rock Band/Guitar Hero heading the same direction in 5 years. The fact that new songs can be downloaded also doesn't help sales for future sequels and most people aren't repurchasing their gaming instruments. I hear of a MC'ing / DJ'ing game on the horizon, but really it's only going to delay the slow inevitable decline of this gerne.
